I have always considered myself a painter, but it wasn't until 2010 when I "discovered" my first character Penelope that I started to truly express myself through my paintings. I say "discover" because I don't feel like I invented this character, but rather she came through me fully formed, something for which I will be eternally grateful. It was only after I rendered her on the canvas that I began to understand the deeper significance of what she has come to share. Penelope appeared to me not long after I survived a difficult recovery from health issues which made me extremely frail and required great strength of character and a sense of humour to overcome. Similarly, in spite of Penelope's apparent physical limitations, she uses her resourcefulness and determination to not only persevere, but triumph in every endeavour she undertakes. Furthermore, she does it all in whimsical style! She is here to encourage and inspire. Anything and everything is possible to those who dare to believe in themselves.
